Despite the recent storms and heat, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Cooler days and perfect weather are just around the corner as we head into November and the start of high season in Los Cabos. Event calendars are already filling up for November, December, and January. It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting season.

As you plan which events to attend, consider supporting those that give back to our community. Los Cabos is one of the most beautiful places in the world, rich in natural beauty, food, culture, and art. But like any community, it has challenges, especially for those who lack access to resources many of us take for granted.

Here are a few areas where local organizations are making a real impact, along with upcoming opportunities to support their work.

Children’s Health Care

Access to specialized medical care remains a major challenge for families with limited resources, particularly in remote areas of Baja California Sur. While IMSS provides coverage for many, transportation costs, lost work hours, and a shortage of specialists often make care out of reach.

Fundación Padrino in Todos Santos helps bridge that gap, offering free and low-cost pediatric care to the kids that need it most, those with chronic conditions and limited resources. The Padrino clinic currently provides 85% of the pediatric services in the Todos Santos area and is expanding with a new facility. They’ve published a number of upcoming events across the region to support these efforts:

Amigos de Niños Los Cabos has a mission of providing quality health care in Los Cabos to children who have no other means of receiving it. They organize clinics and assistance in setting up medical treatment for special cases of the severely ill or disabled.

Other organizations addressing children’s health care include Los Cabos Children’s Foundation and Teleton Children’s Rehabilitation and Inclusion Center (CRIT), both of which provide critical medical and rehabilitation services in Los Cabos and La Paz.

Children & Family Support

Access to quality education is another ongoing challenge. While Los Cabos offers excellent public and private schools, there simply aren’t enough spaces for all children, especially in lower-income areas.

Feeding Los Cabos Kids  is a local ministry that provides 20,000 meals a month to local kids in need.

  • November 22, 2025 at 2pm, Head out to Rock-A-Thon at Official Latitude 22 The Roadhouse. They will have great entertainment provided by 4 local rock bands, a 50/50 raffle, dancing, food & drinks for purchase, and an ultimate jam at the end. Tickets go on sale October 1 for a $500 peso or $30 USD donation.

Dar Para Recibir Community Center is working to close this gap by supporting programs that ensure every child has access to the education they deserve. They currently are educating 80 local children in their lovely facility.

  • October 12, 2025, Xantusii Festival is donating part of your ticket price to Xantusii Fest when you use this link to buy your ticket with the discount code DARPARAREC.

Homeless Pets

There are estimated to be over 500,000 homeless pets in Baja California Sur. Several local organizations are working toward humane solutions through sterilization, rescue, and adoption programs.

PET Los Cabos is improving the overall welfare of our community by promoting responsible pet ownership through comprehensive educational programs in our schools and neighborhoods, offering free and low cost spay/neuter campaigns that are accessible to all.

  • Be on the lookout for their Wine & Whiskers event in November.

Other groups such as Casa Sheila in San Jose del Cabo, Cerritos Beach Dogs, Dog Prana in the Todos Santos area, and Cortez Rescue in Los Barrios are dedicated to improving the lives of these animals.

The Chileno Bay Foundation supports the community by galvanizing the passion of Chileno Bay Members.

The Letty Coppel Foundation plays a key role in supporting both health and cultural initiatives across the region.

  • November 28, 2025 at 7pm they will host their Black & White Baile de Gala 2025.
